DFT Training Program


DFT provides an in-house, hands-on training program for all agents that join our team.

Our training program is called the DFT Proven Path and it typically takes a candidate around 90 days to complete the training program. You will be given a set of 30 day goals, 60 day goals, and 90 day goals - you are required to meet all goals in order to complete the training program.

A candidate may get through the training program sooner than 90 days depending on how focused they are on achieving their goals.

The training program is Monday through Friday, starting at 8:00am. It starts with 3 hours of training per day and the remainder of the day is practical application. That’s where the actual work happens. Over the first 30 days, the training slowly reduces as your professional application of it increases.

While in training, you will be learning how to lead generate business. Once out of training, you will want to lead generate at least 12 hours per week. By the end of your 60 days, you will be more successful than the average real estate professional. You will be working very closely with our Sales Manager and you’ll have weekly 1-on-1 meetings. You will also be learning from our team of seasoned professionals who will provide mentorship, knowledge, and experience with you to learn from.

We will show you how to sell real estate! During this training period, you will be doing a lot of scripts practice and role-playing, understanding concepts around the language of real estate, finding motivation in potential clients, converting phone leads into appointments, writing contracts, the proper way to show homes, how to close clients, and we’ll teach you the tips and tricks we’ve used to become the number 1 team in Charleston!

Our start dates are the 1st and the 15th of the month; if this day falls on a weekend or a company Holiday, it will move to the following day.

1. What does the training program look like?

There is a sales huddle at 10:00am in our office in Mt. Pleasant. While in training, you are required to be on the dialer for prospecting for the first 30 days honing your sales skills. You will be working very closely with our Sales Manager and you’ll have weekly 1-on-1 meetings. You will also be learning from our team of seasoned professionals who will provide mentorship, knowledge, and experience with you to learn from. 2. How long does it take for someone on your team to earn a commission?

Once you’ve graduated from the training program and you’re in production it will take 60 days to earn a commission.

3. Are you paid during the training program?

For Inside Sales, yes, you are paid during training. For Outside Sales (Buyer & Listing Agents), no, you are not paid during training.

4. How long is the training period?

5. Do I need to be licensed?

You do not need to be licensed when you join the team although that is preferred. If you do not hold an active South Carolina Real Estate License when you join the team, depending on the position you will need to complete training and the pre-licensing courses at the same time.

6. What does the process look like to get licensed?

There’s an option to complete the 90-hour pre-licensing requirements during the evenings. There is also a new option to complete the pre-licensing courses on the weekends starting in May 2018. 7. How big is your team?

We have 11 agents in production, 7 inside sales associate, 2 showing assistant, 2 closing coordinators, 1 listing coordinator, 1 sales manager, 1 operations manager, 1 visionary, and a team of virtual assistants and a leadership team that helps run the show!

8. What makes you successful?

You are expected to prospect for 12 hours per week when you’re in production.

16. Where do you get your leads?

We get our leads from various sources which includes the following: past client referrals, agent referrals, pay per click advertising, Zillow, Trulia, Craigslist, Realtor.com, Homes.com, social media, yard marketing, open houses, kwls, radio advertising, inbound calls, outbound calls, farming, circle prospecting, and builder relationships.

17. What do your days look like?

For inside sales, the schedule in the office is typically Monday through Friday 8 to 5. Some people work 7:30 to 4:30 and some 10:00 to 7:00. For outside sales, you have training Tuesday at 8 and a department meeting at 9. There is a daily accountability and training call at 10am that will last 15 minutes. Typically, most agents come to the office for the culture, energy and focus to on their business. While not at the office or on appointments, they typically work from home. You’ll typically find yourself having clients into the office for a consultation, meeting them out in the field for a consultation, showing homes to clients, writing offers, negotiating offers, and constantly networking to build your sphere!

18. What would you project a new team member’s income to be over year(s) 1-5?

Money Freedom - All of our team members at Dave Friedman team make at a minimum of $80k to $300k+ after their first year of experience. If you already have experience, you will get there that much quicker!

Time Freedom - Dave Friedman Team team believes in giving their team members autonomy while providing a framework to be successful. What this looks like is 2 hours in the office per week including valuable coaching, training and team meetings. There are also over the phone team check in meetings to assist with accountability and coaching. You’re looking at 40 to 50 hours per week.
